About us

Financial empowerment for every homeowner

At Selina, we believe that cash-strapped homeowners already possess the key to their financial freedom—they just need a way to unlock it. By offering simple and affordable financial products, we help homeowners leverage the equity in their properties. Our secured Homeowner Loans and Home Equity Lines of Credit (HELOCs) provide the flexibility of a credit card with the lower costs of a mortgage, making it easier to fund important life goals.

As the first FCA-regulated company in the UK to offer these services—already popular in the USA, Australia, and Canada—Selina is leading the way in financial empowerment for homeowners.

Our story

When our founder, Hubert, spent time in the US, he noticed something different—homeowners there had more control over their finances. It was common for people to use secured loans to fund significant lifestyle changes or major purchases, comfortably tapping into the equity they had built up in their homes.

Upon returning to the UK, Hubert saw a gap. Many homeowners had owned their properties for years, building up substantial equity, yet struggled to fund renovations, pay school fees, or make large purchases. Recognizing this need, Hubert founded Selina in 2019, becoming the first company to offer UK homeowners a HELOC.
